Beginning tomorrow on the first day of Lent, Ash Wednesday, we will email the devotions that were written to help you prayerfully reflect on the season of Lent, to strengthen your Lenten practices, and to help you grow in your relationship with God.

Tomorrow's email will include the introduction to the guide written by Pastor Tom Greener, an explanation of our Mission Focus for Lent written by Pastor Dan Baer, and the devotion for Ash Wednesday.

To sign up to receive the daily devotions via email, click HERE. The link will take you to an email that can be sent to Chris Garcia. Before clicking "Send," add "Send Lent Devotions" to the email subject line. If you have additional names to add to the email list, simply list their names and email addresses.

The Devotions will also be posted on our Facebook page and group.

March 5, 2025 - Ash Wednesday

Ash Wednesday is the first day of Lent. It marks the beginning of a forty-day period of reflection, penitence, and preparation for the Resurrection. In the Bible, sprinkling oneself with ashes was a sign of one's sorrow for having committed sins. In the Christian tradition, Ash Wednesday is a time to be marked on the forehead with an ashen cross as a sign of our mortality, sorrow, and repentance.

Ash Wednesday is the first day of a season, as Pastor Dan writes above, that we can "commit to spending more time in prayer, reading the Bible, journaling, attending worship, fellowshipping with others, serving those who Christ has called us to serve, or practicing fasting."

Receive Ashes in the Parking Lot at 12

Pastor Dan and Pastor Becky will offer the imposition of ashes from noon to 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 5, in the parking lot across from the church. Please park near 6th Street then receive ashes by the metal cross on the far side of the parking lot.

[WEATHER PENDING]

Holy Communion at 5 p.m. Followed by a Pancake Supper

There will be a Service of Holy Communion on Wednesday at 5 p.m. for those who are interested in receiving this blessed sacrament prior to the Ash Wednesday Service. The Communion service usually lasts about a half hour, so you will still have time to participate in the Pancake Supper that the youth are serving at 5:15 p.m.

Receive Ashes in the Sanctuary at 6:30 p.m.

Ashes will also be imposed during an Ash Wednesday Worship Service at 6:30 p.m. in the Sanctuary. During the service there will be an announcement of the recipient(s) of the 2025 Lent Offering.
