Spring Fling

Follow Jesus. Love Others. Change the World.

Spring Fling is one of the ways St. James does its part in Following Jesus by Loving Others and Changing the World.

Spring Fling has been a vital part of the mission life of St. James UMC since 1994. Since that year Spring Fling has raised slightly more than $1.1 million —money that has gone back into our community in the form of grants or into an endowment fund that has allowed us to continue to support the community in times when we cannot do any fundraising activities (such as the two years of COVID).

In the first meeting of our Spring Fling Committee this year we asked committee members, "What does Spring Fling mean to you?" Their overwhelming responses were two different but related words: "Service" and "Fellowship." The people of St. James UMC grow in fellowship with one another as we serve the community.

Spring Fling 2026 Message from our Pastors:

This past weekend during Spring Fling, the church and the community came together. It was a blessing to see folks from St. James and people from the organizations that will be receiving grants, working together, being the hands, the feet, and the heart of Jesus. We truly were loving God and loving our neighbors. Many people’s lives will be changed because of your willingness to let God’s love extend outside our church doors.

To those who give their time, talents, and resources so generously: thank you. To those who show up, even on the hard days: thank you.

To those who are new among us, bringing fresh energy and perspective: thank you.

Each of you is a vital part of this story God is writing in and through us.

As we look ahead, may we continue to build on this foundation of gratitude. May we never take one another for granted, and may we always be quick to encourage, uplift, and support. The work we share is holy work—and it is a joy to do it together.

Spring Fling 2026

Spring Fling Day of Service Returns!

This year, the Spring Fling committee chairs have brought back our Spring Fling Day of Service and our Spring Fling FUNdraising Day.

On Saturday, March 28th, 2026, members of St. James (joined by any members of our community who wish to join in!) will go out to the community and volunteer to benefit many of the recipients of this year's Spring Fling grants.

On Saturday, April 18th, 2026, our FUNdraising Day activities will take place at St. James United Methodist Church. This includes the Chicken Dinner sales, book sale, and Sweet & Savory bake sale.
