SERVICE & OUTREACH

Angel Tree

The United Methodist Women in Faith has begun its popular holiday effort to provide gifts to children and youth living at the Methodist Home for Children.

The Home has provided the names of children and youth and their hoped-for gifts on ornaments hanging on a tree in the CLMC lobby and a tree in the Narthex (Sanctuary lobby).

To participate in this project, simply take an ornament from either tree. Add your name onto the tag that gives the child's name, and leave that tag in the jar next to the tree.

Take the tags that list suggested gifts and sizes with you to shop. Choose one or more of the suggested gifts to purchase.

Please return the gifts on Sunday, December 7, to the Parlor. Return the gift unwrapped and place it in a gift bag or box (not sealed) with one of the tags so the child's gift can be

identified.

Poinsettia Sale

The poinsettia, an attractive symbol of Christmas, is called “The Flower of the Nativity” in Mexico and Central America, where it is a native plant. Its leaves, shaped like a flaming red star, remind us of the Star of Bethlehem.

You can help decorate our church with the beautiful flaming red leaves of the poinsettia.

Order one or more in honor or in memory of loved ones. The poinsettias will be placed throughout the church. The honorees and donors will be listed in the Love Feast bulletin on December 14. After the Love Feast, you can pick up the poinsettias that you donated, or leave them for the enjoyment of our members and guests throughout the Christmas season.

To order the poinsettias (at $15 per plant), complete the order form that is available at the front desk or download the form HERE.

PDF Donations

The form also includes other opportunities to give.

First, to the Pastor's Discretionary Fund (PDF), a fund that enables St. James UMC to help folks in the community who have emergency needs for housing, food, or utilities.
