St. James Kids
St. James KiDS, the children’s ministry of St. James UMC, is a place where faith, imagination and learning go hand in hand. Through creative, active, age-appropriate and Bible based experiences children are guided and encouraged to grow in faith and become deeply committed followers of Jesus.
We believe in…
-Encouraging kids to respond in faith to personal relationships with Christ, helping them discover their gifts as young disciples part of The Body.
-Welcoming, supporting, and equipping volunteers and families so that they can be active participants in the spiritual growth of children.
-Upholding the belief that kids are the now of the church, not just the future
Sunday Worship
We encourage children to worship with their families! We welcome their wiggles and their noises. We offer a children’s message in all four services to spend a special moment with young disciples, discussing the scripture or sermon topic in a way they can relate. To support children’s accessibility to the sermon, we also provide meaningful worship packets full of activities related to the sermon, as well as Wacky Track Fidget toys at the entrance of each worship location.
While all children are welcome in worship, we do encourage your family to choose what is best for you! We offer nursery 6 weeks-5 years old for you to utilize any time you are worshipping or attending Sunday School. Please see the nursery page for more information!

Wild 1’s
A gathering just for 5th graders!
Wild 1’s stands for Willing, Involved, Loving, Disciples
The purpose of W.I.L.D 1’s is to help 5th graders develop relationships before joining the youth program in 6th grade!

D- Disciples
We meet on the 1st and 3rd Friday of each month from 7-8:30! Each meeting has a theme based on a verse or devotion. We play games, have a snack, and even do door prizes! We also have a parent volunteer each time we meet. Sometimes we meet in the CLMC and sometimes we go off-campus for fun or service projects!
5th graders are also encouraged to B.A.R.F!

Children's Sunday School
Children’s Sunday School is from 10-10:50 AM on Sunday Mornings! It is a great time for children to have faith formation and fellowship specific to their age. There is no sign up necessary for Sunday School, but we do have a self check-in each morning so that we can know allergies and information for children when necessary. At the check in desk, we also have resources available for you each month to talk with your child about what they are learning.
We are excited to continue utilizing the Orange Curriculum. For children 6 weeks-5 years old/in Pre-k, we use their Pre-K curriculum called First Look.
FirstLook is based on these basic principles: helping children grow by understanding that God Made them, God Loves them, and that Jesus Wants To Be Their Friend Forever. UPDATE
For Children in Elementary school, we use their Elementary curriculum called 252 kids.
252 Kids is based on these basic principles: helping children grow by understanding making wiser choices, building stronger relationships, and developing a deeper faith.
On a typical Sunday, we split into 3 age groups: Pre-K, K-2 Grade, and 3-5 Grade. We will expand as necessary. Children under 3 are welcome to stay in the nursery or if potty trained can join us in Sunday School during the hour!

Nursery
In the nursery, children are nurtured in a welcoming environment by trained staff who are passionate about loving your children with the love of Christ.
We welcome children aged 6 weeks-5 years old to the nursery during worship services and Sunday School from 8:30 AM-12:30 PM. Nursery is also available during TGIW from 5:45- 7:15 PM and during some special events. Staff conduct activities, sing worship songs, and engage in play with your children.
The nursery is also utilizing the FirstLook curriculum to share the love of Jesus with children attending nursery. We utilize a quiet pager system which you will pick up during drop off in case you are needed while your child is in the nursery.
We are always looking for volunteers to help welcome children/reunite them with their grown ups at the desk. Visit the upper CLMC lobby to check in to the nursery.
