Living the Story

Update 10/23/19:
This fall we have been exploring the Bible from cover to cover. Journeying through the entire story of God’s work on earth from Genesis to Revelation. We are learning how we are called to make the scriptural story our own story, and what it means to live in the story of God’s salvation.
We are entering a very exciting part of this story – the climax of God’s story. For in the next few weeks, God’s ultimate plan of Salvation for us will be revealed in Jesus. Join us in worship as we learn what that means for us as a people of God!

We will conclude the “Living the Story” series with a ONE church worship service on Sunday, November 24 at 10:00 a.m.  Everyone is invited to worship together in the Christian Life Ministries Center and then join in the fellowship of a potluck meal!

Following the meal, We encourage you to be a part of decorating the church to bring in the spirit of Christmas at St. James UMC!  More information will come, but make sure that you have Sunday, November 24 at 10:00 a.m. on your calendar!  We look forward to seeing you there!
The Bible can be so intimidating. It was originally written in Hebrew and Greek, meaning we have dozens of translations. There are 66 different books within it, and 1,189 chapters and 31,102 verses! It can be overwhelming!
Not to mention that the Bible is not just any old book. This book is a means of grace for us, a revelation from God. As our United Methodist Book of Discipline puts it, “The Holy Scripture containeth all things necessary to salvation”. When we engage with Scripture, something is at stake! It is not meant to be a book that we merely read, but also a book that we live!
To help us step more fully into God’s word, this Fall at St. James we will be exploring a series entitled “Living the Story”. We hope to share the overarching story of the Scriptures from Genesis to Revelation, with an eye throughout on how we are called to make the scriptural story our own story.
We look forward to exploring God’s word with you!
In Christ, Pastors Ben & Mark
