Fall Classes 2019 – Children

The midweek family night offers children’s choir and classes for kids in Pre-K to fifth grade.  If you do not find an adult class that interests you this Fall, please consider helping with our children’s programs. Remember, Wednesday nights are for the entire family.  We discourage parents from bringing their children to programming and then leaving.

Nursery Care—will be provided for children aged 6 weeks–2 years old (preschool). Please be sure to register your children for TGIW nursery care with our nursery staff.  Contact Taylor Dougherty at taylor@stjconnect.org to register your infant and preschool children.

“The Story”— Children will experience God’s great love by bringing his story to life!  During the Fall TGIW, we will focus on the first 11 engaging lessons of this curriculum.  This curriculum will be used across all ages of our TGIW programming this Fall, with the exception of our second and third graders (see below).  Preschool through first grade children will experience a short video, short lesson, and a skit. Our fourth and fifth grade students will begin with a partial lesson and will then work the remainder of the time to prepare and present “the skit” to our PreK-first grade students.  Molly Carpenter and EBea Hobgood are leading these classes, but they will need parents to help assist.

“God and Me”— The God and Me curriculum is designed to help children become best friends with Jesus and tell their story of “God and Me” together.  Children will make a game in each lesson and keep their games in a GAMEBox (God And Me Exploring BOX).  These games will reinforce the Bible lessons and provide opportunities for families to explore God’s love together.  The program includes awards/emblems that are approved for wear on the official uniforms of the Boy Scouts of America, Girl Scouts of the U.S.A., Camp Fire USA, and American Heritage Girls.  All church youth in second and third grades (whether or not they belong to a scouting group) are eligible to participate.  Lacy Hobgood is leading this class, but will need parents to help assist.
