Staff Updates

The Staff Parish Relations Committee is pleased to announce the appointment of Laura Goldenbaum-Yang as the Associate Pastor for Youth and Young Adults.

Laura has worked with youth for the last eight years at Camp Don Lee as the Assistant Director for Faith Formation and Environmental Education. She has a Masters in Divinity from Drew Theological School and is a provisional Elder in the UMC. She is married to Daewon, and they have two young children, Sophia and Drew.

As a provisional Elder, Laura will support our young people with a strong theological background, administrative experience, worship leadership, and experience in engaging and connecting with their generation. While having a pastor serve in this role does increase the church’s financial investment, the Administrative Board and the Finance Committee both supported SPRC’s recommendation; our youth and young adults are vital to the life of St. James.

While she wraps up her summer duties at Camp Don Lee, Laura will begin with us part-time in September and move quickly towards full-time. On August 25th the youth will welcome Laura on Sunday night at the Youth Gathering. Laura will be present with us on Sunday mornings starting in September.

Please join us in welcoming Laura and her family, and praying for a smooth transition for our youth and young adult program.

SJUMC Food Pantry Needs Items

The St. James United Methodist Church Food Pantry
needs to be restocked with canned meat, canned fruit, and breakfast foods. Please consider donating canned ravioli and Spaghetti O’s, canned pears, peaches, and mixed fruit, as well as breakfast items of cereal, oatmeal, and grits. The pantry is also low on canned soups.

Deposit your donations in the bins outside of Marianne’s office.

For more information about stocking the food pantry, please contact Sarah Jane Taylor at sjtaylor1971@yahoo.com. Thank you!
