Back to School Blessing

We’re sending our St. James students and educators back to school
with our prayer and blessings!

We will have a back to school blessing during each of the worship services on Sunday, August 25.

Students and educators are encouraged to bring their backpacks, briefcases, or teacher bags to be blessed during these services!

Acolyte Training

acolyteBeing an acolyte is a service of honor to God and to the St. James community. As acolytes bring in the light, they remind us that the light of Christ is present when we gather in the name of Christ. When they depart carrying the light, we remember that each of us carries the light of Christ out of the church and into the world.

Would you like to serve as an acolyte? Please plan to join us for an Acolyte Training on Sunday, September 15, at 10:00 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall.

You must be at least 8 years old to serve as an acolyte. This is a wonderful way for new and upcoming confirmands get involved! No experience necessary.
For more information, please contact Karen Medlin at medlink@pitt.k12.nc.us

We will provide trashbags and hand sanitizer. Feel free to bring your own lunch, gloves, or any other trash collecting items that you wish to use! Parents or guardians are required to stay for Mission Mondays.

St. James Preschool Openings

Fall registration for St. James Preschool filled quickly this year.  There are still a few openings especially in the MWF 3 year old class and the 4 day 4 year old class. Children’s Community Garden

The Children’s Ministry Team is pleased to announce that we have a new, children’s community garden behind the church along 8th Street next to the Scout Hut. The four beds and two benches were built by member Pierce Harner as part of his Eagle Scout Project.  It is our hope that these gardens will produce vegetables which we can donate to our own church food pantry. If anyone is interested in helping maintain these gardens, please contact Molly at: molly@stjconnect.org.  Read more…

Family Worship

Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” (Matthew 19:14)

Beginning in October, we are starting something new! The FIRST Sunday of every month will be Family Worship. On these first Sundays, we will not offer Children’s Chapel or Childcare for school-age children during the worship services. Instead, we are excited to have them join us, share communion with us, and worship with the congregation! Nursery will still be provided for infants-4 year olds, and we will have Sunday school classes as usual for all ages during the Living Water hour.

For more information, please contact Molly Carpenter at 752-6154 or Molly@stjconnect.org
