Seekers Sunday School Class

The Seekers Class is starting a new 19-week study, “Acts of the Apostles,” on June 2, 2019. All are welcome to join the Sunday School class for the video- and discussion-based series that teaches about the formation of the New Testament church. Mickey Efird, Professor Emeritus at Duke Divinity School, created the series.

Dr. Efird’s video discussion of Acts helps us to understand and apply the Biblical story to our own lives and the life of our churches. See Peter and Paul grow into leadership. Relive the emotion and wonder of Jesus’ followers from Christ’s Resurrection to that Pentecost when all were filled with the Holy Spirit and passionate about leading others to Jesus. The Seekers Class meets during the Sunday School hour after the 9 a.m. service (beginning at about 9:50 a.m.) in Room 311 in the CLMC.
To join the class for this study, or for more information, please contact Chris Garcia at chris@stjconnect.org or Lora Joyner at lcjoyner90@gmail.com.

Women On the Way (WOW)

Ladies of St. James!

Max Lucado’s Life Lessons from 2nd Corinthians will be the subject of the new study beginning Sunday, May 12, in the Women on the Way (WOW) Sunday School Class.

The subtitle of the book expresses the focus of the study: Remembering What Matters. Some days we forget that we belong to Jesus. It’s not intentional, but it happens. The church in Corinth had forgotten. They were divisive. Insensitive. Argumentative. Rebellious. They listened to false teachers who questioned the message of Christ and who accused Paul of being unreliable and a false apostle. Paul knew the Corinthian church needed a reminder, so he wrote a heartfelt letter defending his character, ministry, and message. The letter reminds the Corinthians to turn from their worldly ways and to think and live in ways that honor God. Likewise, Paul’s letter encourages us to look at our own lives so we won’t forget what really matters.
