St. James UMC Preschool Registration Information

The St. James Preschool registration has concluded for this fall.
However, we still have opening in our Tu/Th 2-year-old class and our TuWeTh 3-year-old class.

If you have any questions or if you would like to register for these openings, please call Kendyl Sisk, School Director, at 754-9967, M-F 8:30-12:30, or email at preschool@stjconnect.org.

  • A St. James UMC Preschool Enrollment Application form must be completed for each child you are registering. Applications can be obtained from the preschool office or by clicking on link below.
  • A non-refundable registration fee will be required upon registration for a student to be enrolled. Your child can be added to a waiting list at no cost.

TGIW Class Registrations

This year at TGIW we will all embark on an exciting new adventure for all ages. "The Story" offers a seamless, compelling narrative of the Bible, relating God's Story of His Love for us. Each week a different Bible story will come alive for all ages at St. James! Please register your child in on of the following classes:

 

Preschool Pals - Fun and Leadning for 3 & 4 year olds

The Zone - Program for kids in grades K-5th grade

The Story - Adult Class 6:00-7:15 pm - September 5-November 14

Please register no later than December 20 to ensure that resource material will be available for you.  We need time to order the books and get them shipped to us.  Registrations will continue beyond December 20, but we cannot guarantee that your material will be here on time.  Note that some classes require reading prior to the first class so be sure to pick up your book early in such cases.  Also, childcare must be requested ahead of time.  You can register online at www.stjconnect.org or by calling the church office at 752-6154.

 

GriefShare - Mondays, 7:00-9:00 pm - February 4-April 29

Losing a loved one to death takes a toll on us emotionally, physically and spiritually. This group will help you get through this difficult time guiding you from your time of mourning back to a time of joy in Christ. This is an open group, so you can join us at any point during the 13-week time for this session.

St. James Jammers- Mondays, 6:30-8:00 pm - ongoing

Do you have a fiddle, mandolin, banjo, dulcimer, autoharp, spoons, bones, harmonica, bass fiddle, guitar? Come join us. This group of string musicians gets together each week to play bluegrass, folk, Gospel music. All levels of experience, even beginners, welcome!

Prayer Shawls- Mondays, 10:30 am-Noon and 6:30-8:00 pm - ongoing

Share your gift of knitting or crocheting—or come and learn one of those gifts—as you create shawls to be given to people in our church, community, and around the world.

Scrapbooking Your Spiritual Journey
(women's group) Tuesdays, 6:30-7:45 pm -
Orientation is January 8th and first class is January 15th. Will meet every two weeks after that with break in summer.

Use weekly Bible scriptures to reflect on your spiritual journey as a Christian woman.  Scrapbook pages will cover topics such as spiritual gifts, purpose in life, church, family, rest, God’s world, and service.  Class size is limited to 9 students.

Cooking With the Bible - Wednesdays, 6:00-7:15 pm - January 9-March 6

Experience Bible stories in a fresh new way!  We will learn how food is used in the Bible to connect with God and with others.  Learn how to prepare some of the foods mentioned in the Bible stories you read.  Class is limited to 15 students  and fills us fast so register soon!

Game Plan for Life - Wednesdays, 6:00-7:15 pm - January 23-March 6

A men's Bible study with Joe Gibbs that provides an honest look at 11 key issues facing men today. Gibbs is a three-time Super Bowl champion coach and owner of a three-time NASCAR champion team. He relates to the innate desire in men to win and wants to help them avoid some of the mistakes he has made.

Godly Parenting - Wednesdays, 6:00-7:15 pm - January 9-March 13

In “Essentials of Parenting: Be Prepared,” you will learn practical plans for dealing with dangers such as internet porn, alcohol, drugs, eating disorders, and premarital sex.  Learn how to resist the impulse to overprotect your child how to prepare your child for the world of today and tomorrow.

Outlive Your Life - Wednesdays, 6:00-7:15 pm - January 9-March 13

This is the Basic class for the Change the World facet of our Journey of Discipleship.  Max Lucado helps us discover how we can make a difference for God.

The Path to Easter - Wednesdays, 6:00-7:15 pm - January 9-March 20

These video lessons, filmed in the Middle East, take you through the last few weeks of Jesus’ life as he heads to Jerusalem and the cross.  Prepare your heart for Holy Week and Easter with this 10-week study.

The Story - Wednesdays, 6:00-7:15 pm - January 2-March 20

The Bible is the story of the relationship between God and humanity and of God’s faithfulness even when we are unfaithful.  In the second part of this 3-semester study, we will explore this story from the life of King David through the rebuilding of the Temple.  You don’t need to have taken the first semester to join this class.

Wellness for the Stressed - Wednesdays, 6:00-7:15 pm - January 9-30

Explore ways to handle stress through life balance, rest, sustenance and rejuvenation.  Kick off your New Year with a plan for a better life.

Why Do We Worship That Way? -
Wednesdays, 6:00-7:15 pm - January 9-March 20

Have you ever wondered why we worship a certain way?  Why isn’t anything on the communion table?  What is a retable?  What is the difference between Praise and Worship and Hymns?  Is there an audience?  And if so who is it?  If you have ever wondered about why we do certain things in church worship, this class is for you!

Wednesday Women - Wednesdays, 6:00-7:15 pm - January 9-February 20

This group will discover the story of Ruth in Kelly Minter’s study “Ruth: Loss, Love, and Legacy.”  Important: Participants should pick up books from Joyce Day ahead of time and read the first week’s readings before the first class.

This semester the men’s group will study the book What God Does When Men Pray by William Carr Peel.  Learn how to go deeper with God and receive practical tips for growing your prayer life.

Truth Seekers - Thursdays, 9:30-11:00 am - January 10-April 25

This group reads and discusses books about Christian life and also studies the books of the Bible.  In January, we will discuss the book Proof of Heaven by Dr. Eben Alexander.  Important: Students will need to read this book prior to the first class.  Contact Joyce Day if you need a book ordered for you.

Bridge Builders - Thursdays, 7:00-8:00 pm - January 10-31

This group will study Adam Hamilton’s new book Forgiveness: Finding Peace Through Letting Go.”  Learn why when we forgive others we are giving ourselves a gift and why we need to forgive in order to experience God’s forgiveness of us.

Meets Monthly on Sunday evenings at 5:00 pm- begins January 13
