Vacation Bible School 2011
Volunteer for VBS! Benefits of volunteering at VBS The theme this year is Hometown Nazareth (Where Jesus was a Kid) - see below.
What’s your favorite thing about Vacation Bible School? “My favorite thing is games!” Did you know kids in ancient Nazareth loved to play games too? Their games included bow and arrow shooting, juggling, and tossing stones into a pit. Come to VBS this year and enjoy a modern twist on these old games. “My favorite thing is the music!” Kids in an ancient Nazareth would sing and dance at events celebrating a good harvest or a special time in someone’s life. You will not want to miss the fun and music at the “Celebration” each night of VBS. “I love crafts!” In ancient Nazareth yarn was made into cloth on looms—wooden frames that held the warp threads taut while the weft threads were woven over and under the warps. In Jesus’ time, most looms were large enough to make cloth 3 feet wide. Come to VBS and visit the Weaver’s shop and make your own cloth. “I like the food at VBS!” As a special treat, families in ancient Israel sometimes ate boiled, salted locusts. These delicacies supposedly tasted like shrimp! We promise you won’t have to eat salted locusts at VBS, but you will get to share fun foods with church friends and sample some yummy food surprises as well. Take your kids back to Hometown Nazareth, where they’ll stand up for the faith among people who doubt that the carpenter’s son is really God’s Son. They will experience a new and amazing VBS and come home with all new favorites, including, “I love learning about Jesus!” Evening VBS |
